History

The Asian Food Fest (AFF) was founded in 2010 by a diverse group of friends who wanted to spread their love of Asian food and culture through the city of Cincinnati. AFF originally began as a fundraising event for Care 2 Share, a non-profit organization of Vietnamese-American volunteers who work to provide funding, ideas and the human touch to the people of Vietnam.

During its first 2 years, Asian Food Fest was hosted at the Kolping Center. In 2012, Asian Food Fest became its own entity and moved its location down to The Banks along Cincinnati’s waterfront. In 2012 and 2013, AFF hosted the popular Asian Food Fest Cook Off series at Findlay Market. Dozens of community members competed in categories including Congee, Curry, Rolls, Fried Rice, and BBQ. In 2014, AFF moved to beautiful Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati which remains the festival’s location to this day.

Each year, the festival has showcased some of the region’s best Asian restaurants and chefs, while fostering connections between community members and local Asian American organizations and businesses. Throughout the festival, authentic cultural performances and live bands have taken the stage to provide an enriching and festive environment. The festival has drawn in crowds of up to 20,000 people, and expects to bring in 30,000+ attendees in 2017.

Since its beginning, Cincinnati’s Asian Food Fest has been run entirely by hardworking and passionate volunteers who want to make a positive impact on their community. Asian Food Fest is a unique event which brings together and highlights many different parts of the local Asian American community, which includes people from dozens of countries, hundreds of languages, and countless religions. The festival has also acted as a vehicle to support and raise awareness for non-profits focusing on local and/or global causes. A portion of the festival proceeds will go toward the 501(c)(3) non-profit Asian American Cultural Association of Cincinnati (AACAC) and to host future Asian cultural events in Greater Cincinnati.

Mission Statement

Asian Food Fest’s mission is to help make Cincinnati a more diverse, accepting, and delicious city. We aim to promote diversity in the Greater Cincinnati area by celebrating Asian food, culture, and communities, while working to encourage even more local people to be a part of the growing Asian food scene.

Vision

Asian Food Fest’s vision is to become one of Cincinnati’s premiere cultural festivals and one of the largest Asian cultural festivals in the Midwest, through strong partnerships with many local businesses and community organizations. Through Asian Food Fest, we hope to build on the exciting growth and creativity taking place in the Asian culinary community to make Cincinnati a cultural and culinary destination for Asian food lovers.
